Yesterday we celebrated Burns Night ๐Ÿ”ฅ.This is what www.robertburns.org says about Burns Night:Celebrated on, or about, the Bard's birthday, January 25th, Burns ๐Ÿ”ฅ Suppers ๐Ÿด range from stentoriously formal gatherings of esthetes and scholars ๐ŸŽ“to uproariously informal rave-ups of drunkards ๐Ÿทand louts ๐Ÿป. Most Burns Suppers fall in the middle of this range, and adhere, more or less, to some sort of time honoured form which includes the eating of a traditional Scottish meal ๐Ÿ›, the drinking of Scotch whisky ๐Ÿบ, and the recitation of works by, about, and in the spirit of the Bard ๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ”ฎ.I think we weren't too uproarious ๐Ÿ‘ฏ, and there were only a few drunkards ๐Ÿน๐Ÿธ at the end of the night, AND we ate haggis, neeps and tatties ๐Ÿ›, and cranachan ๐Ÿฅ all wonderfully made by Chesca. Oh and there were some nice Scottish beverages on offer - whisky๐Ÿธ, ginger wine ๐Ÿท, irn bru ๐Ÿนand buckfast ๐Ÿบ (not all at once, although apparently whisky and ginger wine with a squeeze of lime is excellent).Everyone had put on some splendid tartan (mainly provided by Topshop and Zara) and we addressed ๐Ÿ“ข the haggis quite properly - each person reading their verse.  There really were some quite marvellous Scotch accents - Hugh carried on being Scottish for the rest of the night (actually maybe he is Scottish...).  Olivia even stabbed ๐Ÿ”ช the haggis at the appropriate moment - and all the lights went out ๐Ÿ’ก, it was rather dramatic - we are a little worried she may have stirred up the spirit ๐Ÿ‘ผ of some long dead Scottish bard with her accidental incantation ๐Ÿ”ฎ:His knife see rustic Labour dight,An cut you up wi ready slight,Trenching your gushing entrails bright,Like onie ditch; And then, O what a glorious sight,Warm-reekin, rich!Luckily the lights ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ก came back on again and we were able to eat all the wonderful food, drink some drinks and generally celebrate Scotland - there were a few toasts to 'the union' and some perhaps less favourable ones to 'Sturgeon' and 'Salmond' - although really it was a very positive evening in general.  We ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’šScotland.Today I had porridge ๐Ÿฒ for breakfast (Scottish Oats to stave off the whisper of a whisky ๐Ÿธhangover), and did my first day ever working from home.  Which really was very pleasant - I got many work things done and had Bumble for company, he dressed like Peter Rabbit today ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŽ€.Alice xxx
